About 8 months ago, model Dejana approached us for a retro shooting with an oldtimer. We couldn’t resist because she showed us a lot of cool cars to choose from. Our concept was an editorial in the style of the 60′s tv-show “The Avengers” with Diana Rigg as Emma Peel and Patrick Macnee as John Steed. We knew, this one was gonna be a big shooting, so we spent the next few months planning the entire shoot in detail.

Finding the right location is always the hardest part. We wanted to show the models and the car in a wide landscape with no distracting objects in the foreground. It was also important, that it matched with our spy theme. My first thought was an airfield. A collegue of Marie-Louise’s father owns MSW AG, a company in the aviation industry. He made this dream possible and also offered us to provide some planes for the shooting!

Next, we needed a great costume for our female model playing Emma Peel. The coolest original costume of the tv-series is a leather cat-suit that appears in several episodes. Marie-Louise designed and tailored a similar costume on her own fitted to our model Dejana. I think it looks cuter than the original! The suit for the male model Thom is one of my own business suits. It was a perfect fit.

As car we chose a silver 356 Speedster which was kindly provided by 356California. What a wonderful car, so elegant!

The crew grew from week to week a long with the project. At the day of the shooting, we were about 15 people. It’s really great to work with so many people following the same goal. Many thanks to the whole team!

Finally the day of the shooting arrived. As always with outdoor sets, we were intensively following the weather forecasts during the week. The whole week before was rainy and so was it on the morning of the shooting. We didn’t bother and continued with our production schedule. At the time we arrived at the airfield, it stopped raining and the sun came through the heavy clouds. How lucky we were! But there was a very cold and strong wind. It was really hard for our models not to freeze like an icicle…
